2023 uci cycling world championships

All eyes will be on the Tweed Valley this August as Glentress Forest plays host to the greatest mountain bike cross-country riders in the world. See here for all essential info in the build-up to the event.

For the first time, the world’s finest riders will compete for 13 individual World Championships across seven different cycling disciplines in one combined event in Glasgow and across Scotland - including at Glentress Forest here in the Tweed Valley. It will be the biggest cycling event to ever take place anywhere in the world.

Glentress will host five 2023 UCI Cycling World Champs events between 6 and 12 August, including the Olympic Mountain Bike Cross-Country and an epic Mountain Bike Cross-Country Marathon. The official event village will be based at Glentress and be easily accessible via Park & Ride locations and the Tweed Valley Railway Path. Discover more detailed information for travelling to the World Champs by bike on the Sustrans website – and download the official Glentress and Tweed Valley Spectator Guide for all travel info, maps, venue guide and race schedules.

Aside from the racing, the Tweed Valley will play host to an exciting programme of fringe activities for spectators, supporters and the local community. We also invite every visitor to explore the area and discover what makes our year-round activity destination so unique. Take a dip in the river or discover iron age forts in the hilltops; enjoy the best in local food & drink or craft your own gin; catch an evening show or brave Scotland’s longest zip-wire. There’s so much to see and do – we can’t wait to help show you around!
